Mia Martin Palm Beach resident, an influential figure in the preservation of American history and a renowned genealogist, is proud to share her story of cultural and architectural preservation. A native of Virginia’s Hunt Country, Mia’s journey began with a strong foundation in the arts and a deep respect for historical heritage.

After graduating from Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia, Mia became a Trustee and co-chair for its Centennial celebration. Her passion for the arts led her to pursue further education in the United States, England, Italy, and Switzerland. Following her tenure at Sotheby’s in London, she earned her fine arts degree from American University, setting the stage for a career focused on the preservation of America’s rich cultural heritage.

Mia’s commitment to architectural preservation is evident through her leadership roles, including her membership in the Council of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and co-chairing the prestigious Restore America Gala at the Library of Congress. Her hands-on experience with restoration projects includes overseeing the preservation of a historic Embassy Row mansion in Washington, D.C., now the Embassy of Estonia, and a historic farmhouse in Virginia.

Her devotion to genealogy, and her respect for the history that connects past generations, is reflected in her active involvement in several genealogical societies. Mia serves as Recording Secretary for the Colonial Dames XVI Century and Chair of its heraldry committee, while also holding roles within the DAR and the Pilgrim Society. She was recently elected to The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mia is also an accomplished author, with her book Dog Heraldry: The Official Collection of Canine Coat of Arms being published by Simon & Schuster. The book, launched at the renowned Westminster Kennel Club, celebrates her passion for heraldry and its connection to the preservation of historical symbols.
