Piqua, OH – June 24, 2026 – Edison State Community College has launched a DAISY Award® nomination process to recognize nursing students and educators who demonstrate exceptional compassion, leadership, advocacy, and commitment to nursing excellence. The initiative provides students, faculty, staff, patients, and community members with an opportunity to nominate individuals who make a meaningful difference through nursing education and patient-centered care.
The launch follows the College’s recent recognition of its first honorees during the spring nursing pinning ceremony. The award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators recognizes instructors who serve as exemplary educators, outstanding role models, and inspirational influences on nursing students. During the spring semester, Edison State Community College honored Associate Professor of Nursing Marci Langenkamp for her dedication to student success, mentorship, and the positive impact she has had on future healthcare professionals. Along with the recognition, both honorees received a certificate, a DAISY Award® pin, and “A Healer’s Touch,” a sculpture hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe.
The student recognition category celebrates nursing students who exemplify compassion, advocacy, leadership, and a commitment to caring for others. Nursing graduate Mersedes Beasley received the spring semester honor for her perseverance, positive attitude, and support of fellow students throughout her educational journey. Through the nomination process, Edison State Community College aims to continue recognizing individuals who embody the values and standards of excellence within the nursing profession.
