Dr. Kim has devoted her career to the diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of adults and older adults experiencing a broad spectrum of psychiatric conditions. Her expertise includes mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, psychotic illnesses, cognitive disorders, geriatric mental health, and complex psychiatric presentations requiring comprehensive diagnostic assessment. Her thoughtful, evidence-based approach enables her to provide objective medical opinions while addressing the psychological, medical, and functional issues frequently encountered in workers’ compensation and medical-legal evaluations.
Currently, Dr. Kim serves as an Attending Psychiatrist with Executive Mental Health Inc. and Comprehensive Psychiatric Services, where she provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and individualized treatment plans for diverse patient populations. She collaborates closely with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and clinical documentation.
Dr. Kim completed her Psychiatry Residency at New York Medical College at Metropolitan Hospital Center, where she was selected as Chief Resident of Psychiatry during her final year in recognition of her leadership, clinical excellence, and dedication to resident education. She subsequently completed a prestigious Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Stanford University, gaining advanced expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders affecting older adults, including the complex interaction between psychiatric illness, neurocognitive disorders, medical comorbidities, and functional capacity.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine after completing post-baccalaureate premedical studies at Columbia University. Dr. Kim also earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Economics from New York University, providing a strong multidisciplinary foundation that supports her analytical approach to psychiatric diagnosis, patient care, and medical-legal evaluation.
Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both Adult Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry, Dr. Kim has consistently demonstrated leadership throughout her career, receiving multiple Resident Leadership Awards and recognition as Metropolitan Hospital Center’s Employee of the Month. She has also contributed to psychiatric research through presentations at the American Psychiatric Association and peer-reviewed publications addressing psychopharmacology, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, catatonia, and neuropsychiatric conditions.
Fluent in both English and Korean, Dr. Kim is able to provide culturally sensitive psychiatric evaluations while effectively serving California’s diverse population. She remains actively engaged in continuing medical education through membership in the American Psychiatric Association, the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, and the Korean American Medical Association.
