A controlled 38mm gas flame is applied directly to the bottom edge of a vertically mounted fabric sample for 12 seconds, then removed.

Afterflame Time – must self-extinguish within 2.0 seconds for any individual specimen after the flame source is removed
Char Length – the average destroyed area (char length) must not exceed specified maximum thresholds based on fabric weight
No Flaming Drips – melted portions or drips must not continue to burn after falling to the test cabinet floor
